Get the Facts. 

Many people have a general sense of the issue, but lack specifics. For example, I attended the racial justice workshop, and I learned that one out of thirteen African-Americans cannot vote because of their status as felons, which is damning evidence of our prison system. Not only are facts enlightening, but arguments sound more convincing when you can bring in specific statistics.
This past weekend on Dec. 1, I attended the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Engage event. It was very informative and well-organized, and I not only learned about civil liberty violations, but also how to get involved in becoming an agent of change. Here are the top five takeaways I took from the event.
