About Paul

Paul Mazur has played the Chicagoland thoroughbred racing circuit since 2008 and blogged about it since 2011. His blogs focus on the local tracks of Arlington International Racecourse and Hawthorne Race Course locally with road trips to handicap horse racing's biggest days, such as the Breeders' Cup and the Kentucky Derby.   He founded Picks & Ponderings in 2012 and from 2016 has moved to a sideline role as a Contributor.

His work has also appeared at other racing sites, such as WirePlayers, IronMaidens Thoroughbreds, Thorofan, Graded Stakes, Danonymous Racing, Racing Dudes, Hello Race Fans!, and Blood-Horse.

He has made radio appearances on Bet America Race Network (BARN), "Post Parade" podcast and Chicagoland Sports Radio. He has also made television appearances on  Elite Racing Network and as a contest on "Jim Versus" at Hawthorne.

He has voted in the "NTRA Top 10 Thoroughbred Poll" Media Poll.  (Poll results are released each Monday/Tuesday from March to November).  He's also a member of the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters (NTWAB).

His posts were selected as Best Posts by ChicagoNow for July 2012 and December 2012.

A former city of Chicago resident, he has since relocated to Chicago's north suburbs.
