Saturday July 13 features one of the best cards of the entire Arlington Park season, Million Preview Day. It features four G3 stakes races on the grass course that serve as local steppingstones to races like the Arlington Million and Secretariat on the Arlington International Festival of Racing program in August.
Before the races, there are two great events to take part in. Hall of Fame trainer Jack Van Berg will be signing copies of the book "Jack, From Grit to Glory" authored by Chris Kotulak. Kotulak and Van Berg will be at Arlington on Saturday near the Level 1 Gift Shop from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Copies of "From Grit to Glory" can be purchased (for quick autographing) in the gift shop for ($20) twenty dollars.
On the west end of the grounds (first turn for two-turn races, opposite end as the Metra station) in the Park Area, Arlington will present a Food Truck Festival. A prix fixe option exists for $25 that combines admission tickets and coupons to be used at the food trucks. The Food Trucks will be there from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
As for the racing (you know, the horses that go round in circles), there's a 1:00 first post and twelve live races, with five stakes races. Separate ponderings exist for each stakes, but, here's a one-stop page containing the previously released stakes previews for "Picks and Ponderings."
Race 7, G3 Stars and Stripes Stakes
Race 8, G3 Modesty Handicap
Race 9, G3 American Derby
Race 10, G3 Arlington Handicap
Race 11, Coach Jimi Lee Stakes
