My husband, about to introduce Effy to her first snowball.

Are. Welcome. Effy is a 5 month old Golden/English Cream retriever mix. I’m so sorry her parents missed this day and I know they... Read more »

Reactive Dog Gets New BFF Thanks to Medication, Positive Training and Dedicated, Open-Minded Adopter
I will admit it. I was not really looking forward to pet sitting Sadie again. I mean, yeah, she was well loved at the shelter and it broke all our hearts to see her returned after having been adopted for a year. I knew she has it rough. I guess her prior adopter ran into... Read more »

She was also deaf. Shelters are no place for little munchkins like her, special needs or not, because young puppies and kittens simply don’t... Read more »

Did tricks, including the most adorable army crawl you've ever seen. I hear she landed in a marvelous home.
I was terrified of becoming a shelter volunteer.  I thought I’d end up crying every day while trying to figure out just how many pets I could manage to adopt. But, I value the cause and the time was right for me to step up to the plate. My own dog had died, leaving me with no pets and a... My Blog Avatar Saved My Bacon Because Rescue Dogs are Awesome Like That
I first met Kevin while volunteering at DuPage County Animal Care & Control where I was a dog walker, photographer and volunteer manager of their Facebook page.
