For most of our lifetimes, the President of the United States of America was considered the most powerful person in the world. Today that’s not the case, as the globe now belongs to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
Ever since the catch-phrase “leader of the free world” has been in common parlance, it has meant the POTUS. As it’s a phrase deeply rooted in NATO, the label no longer applies to our current President. Perhaps that honorable designation is more befitting German Chancellor Angela Merkel or United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May, or maybe there is no current leader of the free world.
For all the depressing lows, horrifying embarrassments and frighteningly self-destructive to the interests of America moments that have transpired during the Donald J. Trump Presidency, this week saw the bottom drop out.
There is no bedrock with POTUS 45 and those who support or enable him. It can and always will get worse.
Let’s do a very brief summation.
After a couple days of wrecking ball “diplomacy” with our oldest, greatest and most trusted allies, we learned that Trump was told Russia committed an act of cyber warfare against us, and will continue to wage cyber warfare against us.
The President, whose number one priority and job requirement is to protect the American people and their interests DID NOTHING to put Russia on notice. He continued to bury his head in the sand, screaming “witch hunt,” “fake news” and other words that he doesn’t actually know the meaning of.
On Friday, Trump declared an interview with a British tabloid “fake news,” even though they published the entire audio of that interview.
That’s how entitled and deranged the leader of the executive branch is. He lies about situations where your very own eyes and ears will prove he’s lying. He does it because
1.) he has acolytes dumb enough to believe him over their own senses and
2.) he has political allies so morally bankrupt and obsessed with ambition that they will tolerate anything in order to get what they can from him.
Lying is very bad in general, but lying about what is obviously and easily disproven with immediacy is just plain pointless and stupid for everyone involved. However, this is Trump, a person who has gone his entire life without ever suffering any consequences ever for committing wrong doing.
Have a listen at The Dollop podcast.
Be sure to listen to parts one and two, as over the course of three hours and change they tell you his entire life story. It’s a story of being born on third base and believing you hit a triple, and then every time you get picked off the base, you’re allowed to go back…and then being allowed to go home and score even though the rest of your teammates made outs.
As Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced Friday, Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller indicted 12 Russian military intelligence operatives for hacking the Democratic National Committee. Russian Leader Vladimir Putin ordered this attack on our country.
Trump is not cancelling his meeting with Putin. He will meet with Putin tomorrow, and one of those sessions will consist of no other personnel except the two world leaders and their translators. What Trump is doing tomorrow is akin to FDR meeting with Hirohito shortly after Pearl Harbor, or George W. Bush meeting with Osama Bin-Laden.
According to Friday’s indictment released by the DOJ, Russian hackers launched unprecedented attacks against Hillary Clinton on July 27, 2016, the exact same day that Trump publicly asked them to do so.
“Russia, if you’re listening — I hope you are able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Trump said during an infamous press conference that ultimately be his last until after the election.
“I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press. Let’s see if that happens.”
According to the indictment, Russian hackers “attempted after hours to spearphish for the first time email accounts at a domain hosted by a third-party provided and used by Clinton’s personal office. At or around the same time, they also targeted seventy-six email addresses at the domain for the Clinton Campaign.”
Obviously, this isn’t a coincidence, it’s collusion. It’s the clearest evidence yet of treasonous behavior and apparently, today’s Republican party is just fine with committing treason, just as long as it serves their political interests.
That’s frightening on numerous levels, but it’s even maladaptive to their own interests. How do they know Putin’s hacker army will take their side again in future elections?
Bottom line, Trump is basically going to Helsinki to get his next marching orders from his commanding officer. A man who verbally assaults anyone and anything under the sun, and does so in the crudest manner possible, won’t ever rip Vladimir Putin. Never mind slamming Putin, he won’t even challenge Uncle Vova..
Amazing how Trump is the world’s biggest know-it-all on every topic possible, but plays dumb when it comes to all things Russian hacking related.
It’s pretty obvious that we are a Russian colony right now, but tomorrow only further solidifies it. He won’t cancel the summit and he won’t even remotely consider challenging Putin for the crimes that he committed against the USA. The golden showers tape is most likely real, but even if it’s not there is, without any doubt at all, a card Putin holds that trumps Potus 45 on everything.
So when do we wake up from this never ending nightmare of nightmares? Obviously committing treason is not a deal breaker for the establishment GOP or for the MAGAheads.
There is no deal breaker for these people. The “you know I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot someone, and I still wouldn’t lose any votes” is the one truthful, self-aware thing Trump has ever said.
Here’s the answer, and I say this as a member of group of people deemed subhuman by Fat Dumb Nixon. It still boggles my mind that even one journalist anywhere voted for him. As a member of the media, I am subhuman garbage in Trump’s eyes. (Meanwhile white supremacists, KKK and Nazis include "some very fine people")
He has similarly dehumanized women, Mexican-Americans, African-Americans, Muslims, homosexuals, migrant workers, immigrants in general…the list goes on and on. It’s shocking and alarming that he received even a single vote from any of these groups.
It tells you that America is filled with a lot of self hate, and people whose hate is so strong that they will overlook just about anything in order to verify their hatred of other groups.
However, there are more of us than there are MAGA idiots and America Firsters, and once Republican Classics find out that sticking with MAGA is a losing hand to play, they’ll distance themselves with rapidity.
We need to win and win huge in November, then finally get some checks and balances back in the government, and go from there.
