Chicago Comedian Pat McGann on Letterman

One of Chicago's veteran stand ups will be appearing on Late Show with David Letterman tonight, January 24, 2014.

Pat McGann, a mainstay of Zanies for several years, and one of Chicago's finest comedians, was called up early last week to make an appearance on the show.

I have no in-depth coverage to offer. I'm not good friends with, or even an acquaintance of Pat's. I've met him once or twice, shaken his hand at a showcase or an open mic.

What I do know is this: he's got a stellar reputation as the nicest guy, he's funny, he's professional, and I can't think of a better example of Chicago stand up. Check out his website if you haven't already.

For the rest of us plying our trade in Chicago stand up, this should be one of those inspirational moments where we watch someone we respect get a little bit of glory. And for once, not sit around gritting our teeth and resenting the hell out of it.

Congratulations, Mr. McGann.

A first-generation American, Dan was born and raised in Chicago. He has consistently approached real, honest adulthood, but is still known to play with G.I. Joes and eat spaghettios directly out of the can. Throughout his half-adult man-child existence, he's worked many different jobs and followed many different professional paths, including but not limited to Zamboni Driver, pizza cook, luggage salesman, social media consultant, generic marketing professional of nebulous level of seniority, journalist, video game reviewer, stand up comedian, unpublished author of novels and screenplays, freelance photographer, and now, blogger.
