Great Chefs Event: Tuesday, June 10 at the Urban Outfitters World Headquarters in Philadelphia, PA

The ninth annual Great Chefs Event hosted by James Beard award winner Marc Vetri, restaurateur Jeff Benjamin, and James Beard award winner Jeff Michaud is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10 in Philadelphia. Chicagoans Tony Mantuano and Chris Marchino of Spiaggia, Mindy Segal of Hot Chocolate, and Erling Wu-Bower and Donnie Madia of Nico Osteria will be joining the all-star roster of participating chefs.
The event will benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and The Vetri Foundation for Children. The first group has raised more than $75 million to fund pediatric cancer research projects, while the second funds programs designed to help kids experience the connection between healthy eating and healthy living.

General admission tickets are $350; VIP tickets, which include access to the after party at Alla Spina, are $525.

Mac & Cheese Fest: Saturday, October 4 from noon to 3 pm at the UIC Forum (725 W. Roosevelt Rd.) in Chicago, IL

More than 50 Chicago chefs will be serving their version of Mac and Cheese, a combination with seemingly endless appeal. All of the dishes will partner pasta with cheese, and no two dishes will be the same. Also on the menu are appetizers, sides, craft beers, wine and soft drinks. Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival: Saturday, November 1 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin
Madison, Wisconsin will be hosting its first ever Bacon Festival on November 1. Done in partnership with the organizers of the Iowa-based Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival, the event will include bacon sampling, dishes made with bacon, live entertainment, and an opportunity to meet and greet fellow aficionados. Ticket information will be available in August.

Paella Cook-Off: Monday, June 23 from 7-10 pm at Mercat a la Planxa, 638 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL
Chef Jose Garces, uber- chef of Mercat a la Planxa, is hosting the first annual Paella Cook-Off at Mercat a la Planxa in partnership with Bon Appetit presents Chicago Gourmet. Sponsors include Southern Wine and Spirits of Illinois and Fortune Fish & Gourmet. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Illinois Restaurant Educational Foundation.

General admission tickets (paella samplings, sangria, Spanish cocktails and beer) are $75. For $95, guests can also attend a pre-event reception at 6 pm featuring a meet-and-greet with host Jose Garces.

Participating chefs include Jess De Guzman, Sunda New Asian; Kevin Hickey, Bottlefork Bar & Kitchen; Zoe Schor, Ada St.; Guillermo Tellez, Mercadito Hospitality; Aaron Thebault, Girl and the Goat; and Tom Van Lente, Two.
