Women specific races are not new. Women specific races operated by women, designed to empower women from beginning to end are, that’s where the Zooma Women’s Race Series stands out.
Plenty of races are for women only, but at the end of the day, they are just like any other race, they just throw on a coat of pink and call it good.
Zooma is the brain child of two sisters, who decided to walk away from their corporate jobs and chase their passion, running. Zooma is owned, operated and planned out by women for women.
Zooma is more than a finish line and a goodies bag, it’s a weekend of running, of course, but also yoga, motivational speakers, shopping, wine and the opportunity to take a first step towards a healthy lifestyle.
Their finishers medals aren’t “medals” at all, but necklaces designed by Satya Jewelers. In most of the cities Zooma holds events they are tied in with resorts, to give their runners an opportunity to completely spoil themselves before and after the race.
Rumor has it that Chicagonow blogger and author Nicole Knepper is not only running in Zooma, but will be a guest speaker and signing books at the expo. If you want to hear a ‘Mom Who Run’s and Swears” this is a great chance to meet Nicole and grab her book.
The race in Chicago is Sunday, August 10th in Montrose Harbor. There is a ½ Marathon and 10K distance. The race is capped to keep things intimate and fun.
