Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00PM is your chance to help a child in need and upgrade or sell your gear at the same time.
The Fitness Pursuit in Grayslake is hosting a Fitness Resale for endurance athletes in an effort to help raise money for the Crusade for Connor, a charity benefiting a little boy with a HLH, a rare and highly fatal genetic disease.
First, the Fitness Resale. This is your chance to bring your gently used clothing and gear that has been gathering dust and sell it or if you are looking for some gently used gear and clothing, buy some. It's a great concept and the cause is a tear jerker.
Wikipedia defines HLH as the following.
HLH or Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis also known as hemophagocytic syndrome,[is an uncommon hematologic disorder that, typically, clinically manifests as fever, hepatosplenomegaly, lymphadenopathy, jaundice and rash, with laboratory findings of lymphocytosis and histiocytosis,[ and the pathologic finding of hemophagocytosis. Pancytopenia (anemia, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia), markely elevated serum ferritin levels, and abnormal liver enzymes are frequently present.
In "English" Connor is a very sick little boy, who has spent more time in the hospital than out in his short 6 months on this planet. While most babies his age are cutting teeth and learning to crawl, Connor has already gone through chemo, a core blood transplant and has suffered a lifetime of pain.
Both Connor and his parents need your help.
I will be out there, the RAM Racing Hot Chocolate RV will be out there, coach Matt Peterson will be opening up Fitness Pursuit to host the event, but also let people check out their facilities as well as his new high tech. recovery boots. If you are working out in the morning, trying these babies out in the afternoon will put a smile on your face.
It's a great opportunity to get new gear, help a family in need and check out Grayslake, which also just opened up a Bulldogs Grill, which has the best burger menu in Chicagoland. From the Slap Your Momma burger to the Area 51 Burger, between the event to support Connor and the food at Bulldogs, it's a day worth doing.
