If you haven't signed up for The Lifetime Fitness Chicago Triathlon, this is a good time to sign up and save money. The current price is $145, on February 1, 2011 that price jumps up to $160. It may be hard to fathom swimming in Lake Michigan in January, but August isn't that far away and if you plan on racing, this is a good chance to save a few dollars.
Marathon runners get ready, February 1 is also the day registration opens for The Bank Of America Chicago Marathon. The cost $145 and registration stays open until they hit the 45,000 runner mark, which is usually pretty fast, don't miss out. Two dollars from each entry, along with a dollar-for-dollar match by Bank of America, will be donated to Chicago-based youth running and fitness initiatives.
Finally, is you've ever wondered how far a "nautical mile is," or 10 nautical miles to be exact, now is your chance to find out in a new race, The Fort2Base Race on Sunday, September 11th. Great Lakes Navel Base Celebrates its 100th Anniversary! and part of the celebration is by kicking off this new race that begins at Fort Sheridan in Highland Park and runs along beautiful Green Bay Trail to finish inside the Great Lakes Naval Station.
Participants will have a choice of two race distances, a 10 nautical mile (11.5 miles) distance or 3 nautical miles (3.45 miles) which runs within the private expanses of the Great Lakes Naval Station. The registration cost is $25 for the 3NM distance and $45 for the 10NM and both prices increase on, February 1.
