Here's to Cubicle Dad! 100 Pounds Gone!

October 14th 2009, it started with a letter.

I'm a fat guy, father of two wonderful daughters.  The oldest was born with a heart defect...our family has a history with heart disease...I don't want to be the fat guy who keels over at 50 and leave her, my oldest and my wife like that.
I want to grow old with my wife and I want to be around and see my girls grow up.
Why email you?  Well, you said to...see, I chickened out; I didn't register for the marathon, didn't run and now regret it.  After reading about your's and Lauren's day, I feel inspired again.
I want to start preparing for the 2010 Chicago Marathon.  I'm looking for tips, guidance, etc...I have no idea where to begin, I just feel like this would be a damn good thing to do.

The letter was the first step in the thousands that Daniel Cubicle Dad Malinski has taken since October 14, 2009, when he sent me an e-mail asking for help.

That was 8 months and 100 pounds ago.  Yes, this weekend Dan lost his 100th pound, after finishing a 6 mile hill workout.  8 months ago, when we started this journey, he could barely make it through 4 on a flat surface.

While other bloggers have talked about training for the Chicago Marathon, Dan has stepped up and proven that if you believe in yourself you can make anything happen.

All you need to do is believe that you can change and you can.  No matter what it is, follow Dan and take that step, before you know it you will be a piano player, speak a language, a gourmet cook or yes, 100 pounds lighter.

Click here to read about his journey and to leave him a message of encouragement.

I am proud of you dude.
