Shamrock Shuffled? No worries, there are more races out there

The Shamrock Shuffle is sold out, but there are plenty of other races in the area celebrating St. Patrick's Day with different distance runs for people of all ages and abilities.  There may not be a pot o' gold at the finish line, but some pretty cool t-shirts and a few parades!


Fleadh 5K- Mar 13, 2010 - Oak Forest
This 5K run is part of the 1st Annual Oak Forest Fleadh (pronounced flah), a fun-filled day of events celebrating St. Patrick's Day. Afterward stick around for a  family parade, customer appreciation celebrations and the pub and restaurant open house. This fast, flat and entirely paved course starts and finishes in Midlothian Meadows in the Cook County Forest Preserves.

Lisle Chamber 5K/10K Run-Mar 14, 2010 - Lisle

5K and 10K(new) Race through the pathway system of Lisle Community Park. Very pleasant course with a few slight grades. 1/2 mile youth run and 100yd tot dash. A great way to get the entire family involved family event.

St. Paddy's Day 5K Run, Walk & Leprechaun Leap- March 14, 2010-Chicago
Be Seen ... Be Green is the theme of 8th annual St. Paddy's Day 5K along Chicago's scenic lakefront. Held the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day, this popular annual event also celebrates the beginning of spring. In addition, a "Leprechaun Leap" -- a fun-filled kids' dash.

Running O' The Green 8K Walk/Run-Mar 14, 2010 - Tinley Park
T-shirts will be awarded to the first 450 registered participants. Awards will be given for first, second and third place runners in all age categories, males and females. An award will also be given to the best overall resident and non-resident male and female runner. In the afternoon following the race, stop by Tinley Park's annual St. Patrick's Day parade along Oak Park Avenue.
