It may be raining and cloudy now, but don't let that stop you from checking out the Glencoe Summerfest, starting today and going through Sunday.
The Summerfest is a weekend of activities benefiting the Glencoe Education Foundation.
There's plenty for everyone in the family, including a golf tournament, a BBQ block party a 5K race and the Glencoe Grand Prix, the main event.
Sunday morning, hundreds of cyclists will be tearing it up in the Glencoe Grand Prix. The event attracts riders from across the Unites States, which includes a kids race. Last year's contest included riders from 11 states and 77 cities across Illinois. I got a chance to ride the course with Together We Tri. head coach Libby Hurley on Tuesday, it's smooth, flat and great for racing.
Following Saturday's 5K the Summerfest Beer Garden will have plenty of recovery food in the form of BBQ, cold beer, live music and games from 4 p.m. until 11 p.m. in downtown Glencoe on Vernon between Park and Hazel.
