Chicago is hosting two world class events this weekend, both filled with Olympians and future Olympians battling it out in their sports.  We know about The Chicago Triathlon, but the Chicago Shoreline Marathon is an event worth checking out, these men and women are hard core.  Athlete's from as far away as South Africa are in Chicago to do battle with Lake Michigan and  each other, this isn't just the leisurely paddling you see on the Skokie Lagoons, this is 26 miles of hard work against the waves.

The Chicago Shoreline Marathon is the only world class race to paddle
Chicago's Lake Michigan and the shores ofChicago. All skill levels are welcome to participate, the event includes a
beginner relay, and an 8 mile short course as well as a media race that will include Amy Freeze(FOX), Ginger Zee(NBC), John Garcia (ABC) and Dina Bair (WGN). The media team will compete against the Listen To Your Lakes team and
Chicago 2016 along with others competing in the 4 person relay division.

"We are encouraging Chicagoans to come and cheer the kayakers on, this
is an exciting event that takes skill and determination"
says Tim
Flentye the Chicago Shoreline Marathon co-founder.
