You Are Beautiful.

Girl, you are gorgeous!

I know that's not easy to believe sometimes.  It's easy to focus on the pimple on your forehead while you flip through the magazines and see girls who look flawless and amazing.  Sometimes even I want to look like the girls in the magazines, or wish my hair was longer, a different color, more curly... you get the idea.  But I'll let you in on a little secret.  Those pictures you see in magazines aren't real.

You've probably watched enough America's Next Top Model to know that models and celebrities get pampered by hair and makeup artists before each photo shoot.  But even after the time spent in hair and makeup, photo editors spend a lot of time fixing each image with computer programs like Photoshop.  Watch this movie from the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty to see what happens behind the scenes.

  • I love this campaign from Dove. I am forever telling my girls that these models (and actresses) are not all real...I've even heard Tyra Banks say computers take 30 lbs. off of her for photos...that we're all different sizes. And, still I hear the sagas about looks and weight. We need to hear/see more Dove-like ads. The more we see/hear the more it will stick with girls. Thanks for this. I'll be forwarding it on, you can be sure.

I completely agree! I actually switched exclusively to Dove products whenever I can, too. I figure voting with my dollar can't hurt. (Even if it's only around $10 every month!)

  • This campaign is spot on. Most American women are overweight and this just makes it socially acceptable and gives another excuse for being fat.

Not fooled nor am I attracted to "women of size"
