Its pretty darn cold here in Chicago. Yesterday we had a freeze warning of winds to 30 below zero. Thank god for cuddle duds. That is all I have to say.
So with this cold weather, lack of sunshine, and layers of clothes lifestyle, its natural that energy levels tend to change. At one time or another we all get those winter blues or "lazies" as I call them. Last night I sat looking at the full trash can and recycle container. About this time the cat starting screaming for his dinner. I realized I was down to two cans and needed to go out anyway.
How does one stay productive during a season where life and fun comes to a screeching halt. I literally have friends that disappear until March. Not this chick, I put on my big girl boots and make the most of it.
1. WINTER PROJECTS-I had never hear this term till I moved to Chicago. Friends quickly taught me that you play in the spring and summer and do your "winter projects" when its cold outside. This includes decorating, photo organizing, ect. You get the picture.
2. BATCH YOUR ERRANDS-When you head out in this frigid weather, make it worth your while. Its the one time of the year you don't have to worry about your groceries melting in your car. They are just fine if you make more than one stop.
3. I take out the trash and recycling in the morning (with the exception of last night), so I don't have to make multiple trips outside when I get home.
4. CHECK THE WEATHER-Its important to check the weather each day. Its sad but you have to plan some of your outings around the weather. You don't want to find yourself out of food with a blizzard on the way.
