Green your Cleaning Routine and Save some Green

A recent study indicated that families spend an average of $66.95 per month on cleaning products. That is a lot of cash and chemicals. And to let you know, its not healthy to have a mixture of chemicals stored in one place.

One client packed all her chemicals in one box only to have them interact with each other. It was literally a small chemical cloud.

This chick spends next to nothing. Yes, that is right. I have done away with the chemicals and use only green natural products for cleaning. My main cleaning products consist of baking soda and vinegar. I buy the bulk ones at Cosco a few times per year.

It not only saves money but for someone with severe allergies, it makes my home a lot healthier. I also don't have to worry about my animals being exposed to any chemicals as they run across the floors. It's a win win for everyone.

Here are some simple recipes for greener cleaners:

For spray cleaner:
1 cup of white vinegar
1 cup water

For furniture polish:
1 cup of olive oil
1/2 lemon juice

Wood floor cleaner:
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 veg oil

For scrubbing the toilet or tub:
make a paste out of baking soda and a little water. Scrub with a scrub brush. It works like a charm.

Lemons are also great for cleaning stainless steel. Hydrogen peroxide removes stains from porcelain. Who knew, that all these items most of us having in our homes, could be used as cleaners.

Volka is also another great natural cleaner. I know several people that use it to clean their bathrooms and counters. I personally, am not willing to give up my Effan to the cause as this point.

So whatever your cleaning needs are; think green. You are not only saving money but making your home more chemical free and safe for your loved ones!
