When I came home with my new car the other day, I headed straight toward my filing cabinet(you know where this story is headed). I purged my old car papers and replaced them with my new car papers. Actually some of old papers were in a folder that I had taken car shopping. I found out that all you need for a trade in is the title and extra keys.
So what do you do with your old stuff when its replaced? Often, I find the "old stuff" stashed in a basement or corner. I understand that it's hard to part with things that we paid good money for in the past.
Its ends up going to clutterville. In the land of the lost. Sometimes by the time its found, its ruined by weather or environment. I see it all the time.
So what do you do with this "old" stuff??
1. Can it be sold? Think ebay or craigslist. Especially for technology. I have sold my last few cell phones and palm pilot. Make sure you have everything that goes with it.
2. Can you donate it? Salvation Army or Goodwill would love your gently used stuff.
3. Do you have a friend that can use it? Who can you pass it on to? Make sure that it is something that they will use. People don't want your junk. Also make sure that you are able to get it to them. Don't create a storage center for yourself.
I can't tell you how many times I have been purging a home and the owner says, "That is our old one." Have a donate bag or area in your home.
Items wear out and get old. New technology excites us! Let your old stuff go while it's still usable for someone else and won't end up in a landfill.
