Blackhawks vs. Flyers preview: Teams of destiny clash for Stanley Cup

VS.  Throughout the Hawks’ run to the Stanley Cup Finals, they’ve been called a “team of destiny.” The franchise has taken so many huge steps forward that it just seems that way. Does this Hawks team deserve that billing? I think one could make the argument. The story of the turnaround from... Read more »

With the Flyers’ Game 5 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night, the stage is finally set for the Stanley Cup Finals. This is the Hawks’ first trip to the finals since 1992, and the Flyers’ first since 1997. The Hawks came into the playoffs as the #2 seed, while the Flyers came in... Read more »

Something special is happening at the United Center

Does anyone still wish the Hawks would have played Detroit in the Conference Finals? The Hawks can do no wrong against this Sharks team. Despite being out-shot in all three games, the Hawks have still been the superior team. Niemi is outplaying Evgeni Nabakov, Dave Bolland is outplaying Joe Thornton, and San Jose has no... Byfuglien making his case to be part of long-term core

I know this is an odd time to discuss the future, considering the Hawks are now one win away from heading to the Stanley Cup Finals. But regardless of what happens in the next few weeks, the Hawks still have major salary cap issues this offseason that will need to be addressed. In order for... Read more »

The answer is simple. This Hawks team, the one that is seven... Read more »

Niemi magnificent in Hawks' Game 1 win

I love going to games and everything, but can the Hawks play all of their playoff games on the road from now on? The Blackhawks continued their dominance away from the United Center, winning their sixth consecutive road game dating back to Game 4 against Nashville. Patrick Sharp and Dustin Byfuglien got the Hawks’ goals... Read more »

Hawks vs. Sharks: Western Conference Finals Preview and Schedule

So much for Olympic fatigue.   The two teams with the largest presence in the Vancouver Olympics have overcome tired legs and close calls in the first two rounds to meet in the Western Conference Finals.    The Sharks were pushed to the limit on numerous occasions in the first round against Colorado, and we... Toews, Hawks capitalize on Canucks' stupidity in 7-4 victory

The signs were everywhere prior to Game 4 that the Canucks were going to try to impose a physical game on the Blackhawks. They succeeded at that; the problem was, a majority of their physicality was illegal. I’ve watched a lot of hockey, including 92 Hawks games this year from start to finish, and I’ve... Read more »

A teacher doubling as a sportswriter. When I'm home (currently teaching in NC since March '11), I sit in Section 328. I saw it all. I was there when you could hear someone fart in 326 and I was there with tears in my eyes when the lights dropped before Game 1 of the Finals. I love this team as much as life itself, but I won't feed you bull. All opinions are my own.
