Just about everything was coming up green this weekend if you were hanging out on the Riverwalk. I arrived bright and early on Sunday to ensure I would get a prime seat at City Winery Riverwalk for their St. Paddy's event. The venue kicked off the 2019 season over the holiday weekend. What better place to ogle the Chicago River while it temporarily turns fluorescent, psychedelic green.
The river is especially mesmerizing this time of year, and bonus points when someone's attire and hair are the same shade.
City Winery Partnered with Moody Tongue
Moody Tongue Brewing has been on my to visit list for way too long. So let's just say my mood accelerated after hearing they would be providing most of the beer. I started and ended with their Carmelized Chocolate Churro Porter, which was smooth and chocolatey. I also intended to get a Bourbon Barrel-Aged Chocolate Barleywine; however, it was in bottle format with a hefty price tag. That beer will have to be another time.
Live Music with Fox Crossing Stringband
As if everything wasn't perfect enough, then a ridiculously talented quartet started performing. The all-female Fox Crossing Stringband wooed us with their catchy tunes, euphonious voices, and entertaining stage presence.
What a smashing time my friend and I had! City Winery Riverwalk is now open seven days per week, offering their river domes to snuggle up in on those crisp spring days.
