I have taken pleasure in many live shows at aliveOne in Lincoln Park; however, the tap list is more impressive than I remember since becoming a beer snob. In fact, there were so many good beers staring me in the face that I consumed more than I should have. I wasn't feeling terribly alive the next day, but at least I didn't have to work and it was totally worth it.
aliveOne has 16 drafts on tap and there is a microbrew for everyone. I was elated to see several dark beers on the menu that I haven't tried yet. I drank Eleanor by Pollyanna, Cloud Cutter Ale by Great Lakes, Hatchery Series #4 Chocolate Stout by SweetWater, Fiddlesticks by BuckleDown, and Puffing Billy by Around the Bend (I told you I was really naughty). http://aliveone.com/our-menus/beer-menu/
Perk alert - They have a separate, vintage style back room with FREE live music Wednesday and Thursday nights, which is a great way to support your local musicians. I became a fan of so many bands I saw perform here and my favorite will always be "Spare Parts." During my recent visit, my companion and I were highly entertained by 'Bonzo Squad' and you can check them out here https://bonzosquad.bandzoogle.com/.
aliveOne would make for a perfect date night, especially if you are on a budget:
- The venue doesn't serve food; however, you are welcome to bring in your own or have it delivered.
- A candle on each table for sexy mood lighting.
- Have a couple of drinks while hearing about each other's day.
- Head to the back to take in the free live show.
Fun facts: aliveOne is the only bar in Chicago that has a unique jukebox, specifically one that plays all live recordings from the past and present. They even feature the top 10 jukebox plays of the week on their website. In addition, they hold an extensive collection of live concert bootlegs on CD and analog tape.
I can't say enough about the impeccable service at aliveOne. A huge thank you to Zachary and Joel for an absolutely smashing time and I am already itching to return.
