There's a new kid in town, specifically in the Ravenswood/Uptown area. I was curious to learn more about a place called My Buddy's, assuming it must be a friendly place to hang out. My assumption was correct, as this restaurant/bar is friendly and fun! The staff aims to do anything they can to make their customers happy.
Entrepreneurs Brian BonDurant and Ryan McGady took care in creating a Northwoods style atmosphere with wall-to-wall wood and kerosene-style lighting. There are multiple TVs to please sports fans; however, I appreciated that you could still easily hold a conversation. This would be an enjoyable place to watch the Cubs away from the Wrigleyville frenzy. I recommend following their Facebook page to see all the unique events they're creating (most recently they want to bus you to a midnight showing of Avengers: Infinity war). https://www.facebook.com/My-Buddys-1358062440980026/
Currently, they offer six rotating drafts, as well as 21 bottles/cans and three ciders. The bar really focuses on beer from local breweries including Aleman, Begyle, Half Acre, and Revolution (to name a few). My buddies and I stayed on the light side during my visit. Come hungry since they serve up American food with a touch of Southern flare. Their specialties include tacos, burgers, and a loaded shrimp po' boy. On my next social call, I want to order The Potato Tornado.
Interesting fact: An employee at My Buddy's, Terron Edmonds, named his brew, MaeBell Ale, after his grandmother. MaeBell Ward lost her battle with Alzheimer's disease in 2001, and proceeds from this beer are donated to alz.org.
Photo opportunities await you at My Buddy's sign. Show some love to Chicago's newest Ravenswood establishment and I promise they'll give it right back to you.
