Technically, this event is called "Teacher Open House" but don't let that deter you from signing up for “What’s New in Children’s Literature?” This free special event is designed for teachers, parents, caregivers and anyone else who loves children's books. It's a great chance to get some information you can use to design a summer reading program for the children in your life.
This summer our girls are going to read one fiction and one nonfiction book every week. We'll head to our local library for books, so we'll be able to work through the rows and rows of possibilities. We'll head to Anderson's to buy some favorite book series so we'll have the books in our bookcases forever.
Teacher Open House is divided into two different grade groupings to help the Anderson's focus on different age groups. There are so many great new books available. It will be great to hear the experts talk about the newest in children’s books and the target age groups. Of course the Anderson's staff can help pull together similar books and create a themed summer reading program for children of all ages.
If you are a teacher, CPDU credit is available. Space is limited. Attendees will receive 20% off all purchases made at the event on Tuesday, May 14 at 5:30-6:30 p.m. (grades K-3); 7:00-8:00 p.m. (grades 4-8) at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville. Please call (630) 355-2665 to register for this event.
Anderson’s, located at 123 W. Jefferson Ave. in Naperville, was the 2011 Publisher's Weekly Bookstore of the Year. While the Teacher Open House is only one night, you can always find helpful staff at this independent, family-owned bookstore with locations in Naperville, Downers Grove, and Elmhurst.
