Stop acting like you don't want to see Mamma Mia! You're not fooling anybody.
I once went on a HORRIBLE first date to Mamma Mia: The Movie. Don't misunderstand: the film was fine, but the company was abhorrent. Fortunately, the evening was salvaged when I proposed we sneak a bottle of whiskey into the multiplex and take a (big) drink every time the characters broke into an ABBA song. Suffice it to say, somewhere around "Dancing Queen" I no longer cared that my date was a big dull dud. And let's be honest, I would pay to watch Meryl Streep file her nails.
That being said, beginning tomorrow night, Mamma Mia! is live onstage at the Oriental Theatre, and I'm thinking it's just what I need to shake up my 2012.
Grab some friends who don't take themselves too seriously, down some cocktails, and I DARE YOU to not have a good time. It's ABBA music, you guys! Impossible.
I mean, just look at how much fun Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths are having! (You're gonna want to click on that link. Trust me.)
