I know, hard to believe. There aren't even any mid-air fight-sequences, or shoddy harnesses. The show doesn't stop night after night due to technical difficulties, and nobody has broken any bones! It's also not based off of a comic book.
Thank god!...although I kind of would love a sky-high 'Bushel and a Peck.'
Remember the good ole days when musicals put stock in story, characters and music? When there was more at stake on stage than just Bono's reputation?
Sorry, I'm reading all the recent reviews for Broadway's Spiderman debacle and getting ALL WORKED UP!
"Guys and Dolls" really has it all as far as the Golden Age musicals go. Charming characters who we actually care about, a hysterical book and sassy dance numbers! Plus it all takes place in vintage New York. Who wouldn't want that?!
Need more convincing?
2.) THE MUELLER SISTERS as Adelaide and Sarah!?! D'uh.
3.) There's a reason high schools around the nation seem to be putting this show up around the clock.
4.) Better than 'Spiderman' on Broadway.
I think that about sums it up. Any questions?
"Guys and Dolls" is playing at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire until March 27.
