Merrill Beth Nisker, aka "Peaches", is a rock musician known for her raunchy lyrics and entertainingly explicit exploits.
She's hardcore. She's also apparently a musical theatre geek!
According to the New York Times, Peaches was planning on doing "Jesus Christ Superstar" as a one-woman show, singing all the roles...including Jesus, Maria Magdalena, the disciples and the Pharisees. The electro-rock artist planned to perform the biblical musical in its entirety in late March at a theatre in Germany.
That is, until Andrew Lloyd Webber's people got involved and shut the whole thing down.
Is anyone really that surprised?! I enjoy a good one-woman show every now and again, but let's not get ridiculous.
Poor Peaches. Don't give up! Maybe Boublil and Schonberg will be more flexible with "Les Mis"...
Haha, speaking of which, has anyone ever seen this video of Cher doing "West Side Story" all by herself?! It's rich with camp!
I wonder what other shows would be solo-performance perfection...
