Annoyance Productions presents Melancomedy

"MELANCOMEDY" AT THE ANNOYANCE FINDS HUMOR IN A MINOR KEY

CHICAGO - Back for one night only from New York, Andy Ross, comedy writer and performer, presents his solo show "Melancomedy" at The Annoyance Theatre. Sandy Marshall, of Schadenfreude, directs.

"Melancomedy" is a series of 15 character vignettes, performed by Ross, in which he finds humor in the tiny tragedies of everyday life. From the soccer mom thrilled by her new gluten allergy to Hill County's Sexiest Husband sagging under the weight of his crown, Ross strives to craft rich pictures to show that "Joy and woe are woven fine."

Ross has previously staged MELANCOMEDY to sell-out crowds at the Peoples Improv Theater in New York City, including a four-week run in June, 2009.

Of the New York production, one critic wrote: "It is not just a compilation of funny monologues; it is a parade of realistic and complex personalities-people we could know-whose vices and failures pull viewers into an uncomfortably familiar world." Abbi Crutchfield, TheApiary.com

"Melancomedy" will show one night only on Sunday, October 25 at 9:30 PM. Tickets are $10. Tickets can be purchased at the company's website theannoyance.com or by calling the box office: 773.561.HONK (4665). The Annoyance is located at 4830 N. Broadway, Chicago, Illinois.
