Opening the Tandoor to Authentic Indian Cuisine

" Skill requires an experience, but an experience does not require skill. "

I’m looking forward to visiting the Tandoor restaurant in Schererville, Indiana this week! I’ve heard they serve some of the best Indian cuisine in Da Region. What better way to try Indian food for the first time!

Both anticipating and dreading this moment, I’m excited to try new and exotic foods, but I always end up that guy who can’t pronounce the menu items no matter how slow the waiter repeats them. So, if you’re familiar with Indian cuisine, perhaps you can give me a few pointers on what to order along with a pronunciation key.

Also, if you have a special place (restaurant, theater, bowling ally, etc...) in or near Northwest Indiana that you would like featured on O-Regionality, you can always leave a comment here, give me a tweet @TravanePhoenix, or post it on the new O-Regionality Facebook page!

Aside from blogging, I’m the writer, director, actor and founder of the independent film group, ICE Productions. I’ve been volunteering at the John G. Shedd Aquarium since 2003 in the Interpretive Guest Services department; so if you’re visiting Shedd, keep an eye out for me. Practicing improv at Comedy Sportz in Chicago, I’ve had the privilege of competing in both their student and professional showcases. Always jumping at the opportunity to help new talent, I’ve also participated in multiple Columbia College short films and stage plays. Doing extras work whenever movies make their way into Chicago, I’ve been lucky enough to make it into several feature films and TV shows including: Contagion, The Dilemma, Chicago Code and ER. In my free time I enjoy a good bike ride, volleyball game, or simply losing my soul to Halo and Final Fantasy on one of my video game consoles.
