Back to the Ol' Grindhouse Cafe

Back to the Ol' Grindhouse Cafe

For the past two nights I’ve been cheating myself out of a traditional Chicagoan pastime... sleeping. Sure, it’s a known fact that we bloggers don’t need sleep. Most of the time we get by on nothing more than bourbon and mocha. So I figured what better time to announce my plans to visit the caffeinated utopia of Grindhouse Cafe, than at 1 in the mourning... Morning. Sorry. Freudian slip.

Brewing their own unique style of holiday cheer, Grindhouse’s brother and sister duo, Gabe and Kate, along with their inexplicably happy and energetic crew, have decked their halls with an incredible arrangement of Christmas specials! My delightfully evil plan is to meet up with their new seasonal latte, The Heat Miser, under the mistletoe... It’ll be worth being put on the naughty list.

Look out for my next caffeine induced post sometime this week. Or keep up with me on Twitter @TravanePhoenix and on the O-Regionality Facebook page.

Aside from blogging, I’m the writer, director, actor and founder of the independent film group, ICE Productions. I’ve been volunteering at the John G. Shedd Aquarium since 2003 in the Interpretive Guest Services department; so if you’re visiting Shedd, keep an eye out for me. Practicing improv at Comedy Sportz in Chicago, I’ve had the privilege of competing in both their student and professional showcases. Always jumping at the opportunity to help new talent, I’ve also participated in multiple Columbia College short films and stage plays. Doing extras work whenever movies make their way into Chicago, I’ve been lucky enough to make it into several feature films and TV shows including: Contagion, The Dilemma, Chicago Code and ER. In my free time I enjoy a good bike ride, volleyball game, or simply losing my soul to Halo and Final Fantasy on one of my video game consoles.
