I just recently in the past year got my first cast iron skillet and wonder why it took me so long. It doesn't chip away like a regular pan, it's strong(heavy but strong), it heats up fast and distributes heat evenly, it's easy to clean (no soap), and it's nutrient dense. You actually can get iron from the skillet and into your food so it's great for a vegetarian and vegans. You can make anything in it, you can put it in the oven and I really notice that the food I make in it is delicious. It's easy to take care of as well.
