Jump start your weight loss plan

Have you been the same weight for awhile even though you are exercising and eating healthy?  Your body may be at a plateau and in need of some variety.  Make your workouts count; you should feel uncomfortable (but not in pain) during your workouts.  Increase the intensity instead of adding more time to be efficient.  Add resistance/weight training to your workout regimen at least 2 days a week.  If you are doing the same workout week after week, try a new workout class...keep changing it up!  Many of us eat the same foods every day, every week as well; even though it might be healthy and portion controlled, we still aren't getting a body change.  Try some different fruits and veggies; change up your breakfast; try some new superfoods that you've been reading about.  Your body may just be used to what you are doing and eating everyday so change it up and see what happens.  You don't have to change everything tomorrow; try one or two new foods a week.  Here are some suggestions:

  • Try a smoothie for breakfast with fruits and veggies, maybe some flax oil or chia seeds
  • Try a different fish besides salmon like tilipia, catfish, mackerel, sole, trout
  • Try different grains besides brown rice like quinoa, millet, barley, amaranth
  • Try some new leafy greens besides spinach like kale, swiss chard, collard greens
  • Try some new fruits besides apples and bananas like peaches, nectarines, kiwi, mangos
  • Try some different nuts besides almonds like walnuts, pecans, cashews
  • Amp up your salad- add beans, seeds, dried fruit, nuts, grains, avocado
  • Have some dark chocolate after dinner instead of a sugar free or low cal dessert
