About Me

Shalom.

I'm your friendly neighborhood blogger, Ed Nickow.   You may know me from such other blogs as Chicago Sports In Haiku and The Torah In Haiku.   I am the father of three girls, married to my college sweetheart, and (as you might guess) a fan of Chicago sports - particularly the Cubs and Blackhawks.

I started this blog to write about things that might be of interest to Jews,  and to provide a Jewish perspective on issues that are of broader interest.

It's important to note that I am providing "A" Jewish perspective.  There's an old joke that if you ask two Jews you'll get three opinions.   You can imagine what it's like to sit on the Board of Trustees of a synagogue, as I have for many years.  Not all Jews will agree with what I write here, and I invite your comments.

Of course, as the blog name suggests, it's not just for Jews.  If you have questions, if something doesn't seem consistent with what you've heard about Jews or Judaism, let me know.  I've been teaching Hebrew and Judaism to children and adults for more than 10 years, and am a regular participant in weekly Torah study at my synagogue.  Hopefully I've learned something that I can share with you.

You can contact me via email at notforjewsonly@gmail.com

Todah Rabah (many thanks) for visiting my blog.   I hope you find it interesting, informative and perhaps inspiring.
