Wildcats Finish Ranked In Final Polls

Despite the rough loss to Tennessee in the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day, Northwestern's 10-3 record was good enough to keep them ranked in the final AP and Coaches Polls of the season.

NU finished #22 in the final Coaches Poll of the season, down ten spots from it's previous rank before the loss to UT. The Vols finished one spot behind the Cats at #23, having been previously unranked. UT was the only team to enter the top 25 after the bowl season ended.

In a slight reversal, Tennessee finished one spot ahead of the Wildcats in the final AP Poll. The teams switched spots, with UT finishing #22, and NU at #23. That's 11 spots down for the Cats, which is an expected hard fall after the blowout loss.

There were other Big 10 schools that finished ranked as well:

Ohio State (#4 AP, #4 Coaches)
Michigan State (6/6)
Iowa (9/10)
Michigan (12/11)
Wisconsin (21/21)
