The Cubbies finally did it! They swept Houston 3-0 with a walk off hit by Jeff Baker in the 10th to score Byrd. The Cubs don't have to worry about suffering the first season since 1956 to go without at least a three game winning streak. Let's see if the Cubs keep their winning ways going.
I know it was against the worst team in baseball, but it is something to cheer for. Barney was superb, Soto is slowing becoming Soto again, and overall we scored on offense. The Cubs didn't do too bad pitching wise either.
Game 1: Zambrano pitched decent, gave up a couple runs but still grabbed a good win. The Cubs offense piled it on in the 5th with both the struggling Soriano and the hot Ramirez hitting homers to give the Cubs a 4-2 victory over Bud Norris.
Game 2: Perhaps Randy Wells best game all year and his first win since the first week of the season. Wells gave up only one run in 6 innings. The Cubs brought their best stuff with Byrd and Soto homering giving Wells a 5-1 win against Wandy Rodriguez.
Game 3: Poor Garza. Every time he takes the mound, he pitches very well through 7 innings and the reliever gives up the lead in the eighth. This isn't the first time it's happened to him this year. Fortunate for him, the Cubs pulled away by tying it at 4-4 in the eighth and Baker getting a walk off single to end the series with a sweep in the tenth.
