Only one in 10 nonprofits is taking advantage of the donated and discounted technology solutions available through TechSoup, an organization that provides nonprofits with free and discounted hardware and software, free webinars, educational articles, and expert-led community forums.
TechSoup charges an administrative fee for facilitating product donations. However, the fee is considerably lower than what the product would normally cost. For example, they charge only $31 for Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 (which has Publisher, Access, etc.).
TechSoup is itself a nonprofit, so the admin fee helps them continue building corporate partnerships that result in additional donations.
To qualify for a donation, you must have 501(c)3 status. Some of the corporate partners have additional requirements, which are listed with the product description.
In addition to their product line, they offer a ton of technology-related articles: topics range from "Choosing a Low Cost Donor Management System" to "A Few Good Tools for Data Backup".

Thanks so much for the kind post about TechSoup1 I appreciate you letting your readers know about the resources we have for nonprofits. One I wanted to add was the online community forums--a place where anyone can ask a technology questions and get expert answers from our volunteer experts: http://www.techsoup.org/community
Wonderful -- good to know that there is a place to get answers for specific technology questions. Thanks for sharing.
TechSoup is an absolutely wonderful organization. We hear great things concerning their resources from the nonprofit world. And as a web-based, donor management system provider featured on the above report, we hear from a lot of nonprofit organizations that have found their reports very useful in their search for software.
As a Chicago-based company, we also love that their is a place Chicago Nonprofits can communicate with each other too. Well done Nonprofit Chicago!
