IRS Online Resources for Nonprofits

IRS Online Resources for Nonprofits

Message with web address inside bottle

At a recent meeting of the Nonprofit Academic Centers Council, the head of the IRS Tax-Exempt Educational Office presented some great resources for nonprofits. The IRS offers an amazing array of online materials on two websites: www.irs.gov/eo and http://www.stayexempt.irs.gov/

These sites provide thousands of pages of resource materials for nonprofit organizations, churches and religious organizations. It is great if you are:

  • Planning to start your own nonprofit organization;
  • Trying to understand the new Form 990;
  • Thinking of starting your own foundation;
  • Wanting to check the status of your 501(c)3 application.

Between these two sites, there is likely an answer or a resource that will help. Check it out!
