Spirit Airlines- A Bunch of Idiots or Marketing Geniuses?

Ahhhh… Spirit Airlines. Just mention the name and you’ll get an immediate reaction from many. A laugh, a ‘gross’ face, or a whole diatribe, as I once did at a friend’s wedding. My boyfriend mentioned to the bride’s father that he had flown Spirit to Florida for the big day. This fine, upstanding gentleman immediately... Read more »

A Very Sky Mall Christmas

Make sure you switch out your regular life-size Big Foot statue for the winter version, the $2, 350 Abominable Snowman. Sure to scare your neighbors and children this Christmas morning.
Looking for that perfect last minute gift for Christmas? Sky Mall has got you covered. Thank goodness I was one of those people who actually took a copy home after my last flight. And Instagramed 10 of my favorites for your viewing pleasure. May I present ‘A Very Sky Mall Christmas.’ It’s my holiday gift... Read more »

10 Amazing Trips I Really Want For Christmas

Over Thanksgiving I was watching the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club play a Europa League game in Tromso, Norway (What, you weren't?) People were like, "Where's Tromso?", and I was like, "Umm, it's only one of the largest cities north of the Arctic Circle...duh." And they were like, "Why do you know that?" and then I made everyone watch Ylvis videos. True story. But I really want to go here and see the Northern Lights. Look at that crazy green sky!

This Thanksgiving, I did not partake in any Black Friday or Cyber Monday broo-ha-ha. I like giving and getting gifts, for sure, but I’ve never been much of a shopper. People who really like to travel can be tricky people on your list. Unless they are super wealthy, yacht and first-class types, they tend to... Read more »

10 Awesome Things From Norway Besides Ylvis

Before Ylvis there was A-Ha, the first Norwegian band to have a #1 single in the US with the 80s classic Take On Me.
Unless you’ve been hiding deep in the Scandinavian forest or paying attention to real news, you’ve probably heard about Norwegian comedians/musicians Ylvis and their You Tube sensation, The Fox. I personally think it’s hilarious, but I also love it because it’s one of many awesome things from Norway. I’m a little biased- my mother’s grandparents emigrated... Read more »

Why Sky Mall Is The Best In-Flight Entertainment

Options abound if you're looking for the small furry forest mammal motif for your next decorating project. I'm not sure which is creepier, the evil squirrel giving you the death stare or the creepy squirrel orgy blanket.
I’ve taken eight flights in the last month or so. That’s a lot of time in the air, eating peanuts, silently judging my fellow passengers, waiting to get where I’m going. Sure, I could be productive at 30,000 feet, but that’s no fun. And nowadays, airlines don’t make in-flight entertainment easy. Southwest has you pay... Read more »

Tours for TV Lovers

Walk where Lady Mary, O'Brien and the rest of the Downton Abbey crew walked with a tour of Highclere Castle in Newbury, England. Who knows, maybe you'll end up running off with the Irish driver after wandering the grounds and exploring the lavishly decorated rooms.
Ugh. So I’m scrolling down the guide on my tv and there is NOTHING on. It’s that dead time in broadcasting before the ‘season’ officially starts up in mid-September. So if you’re like me and jonesin’ for some quality television that does not involve twerking or a Kardashian, check out the gallery for tours for... Read more »

My latest blog obsession is 40 Days of Dating. As described on the website, “Two good friends with opposite relationship problems found themselves single at the same time. As an experiment, they dated for 40 days.” Enter Jessica Walsh and and Timothy Goodman, two New York City-based designers who have been friends and decided to... Read more »

America: F Yeah! (in pictures)

A late 1920s mural of US highways, national parks, and major cities, from the Chicago Motor Club building on East Wacker in Chicago.
In my early 20s, I kind of thought America was lame. Been there, done that, was my mentality. So when the opportunity arose, I moved to Europe for a few years. While I loved that time abroad, it did make me appreciate some things about America. Peanut butter, Tex Mex, clothing dryers, and the correct... Read more »

How To Spend Four Hours At O'Hare Terminal Five

I blame Frontier Airlines. They wouldn’t let me check in to my flight to Mexico online. I found this out after trying for about an hour on my my computer with nothing but error messages and then a fun phone call with a ‘representative’ after 20 minutes on hold. A simple note reagrding their international... Read more »

Martha Stewart's Travel Bag: Seriously?

What does media mogul, crafter extraordinaire, and part-time internet dater Martha Stewart have in her carry-on? This: You’re looking at apparently $429 worth of toiletries in 3 oz. or less containers. What does full-time occupational therapist, traveler extraordinaire, and part-time blogger Alisa Jordan have in her carry-on? This: You’re looking at maybe $80 worth of... Read more »
