June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month and No Bags To Check is going purple with an Alzheimer’s Awareness series dedicated to this important cause and the Alzheimer’s Association’s The Longest Day event on June 21st.
I've never been sure what constitutes a "sexy" cause. To me, there's little sexy about anything bad that happens to people, whether it's disease, war, or other disaster. But, what I do know is that Alzheimer's is not a sexy cause. It affects mainly older people. It's often slow moving. And honestly (as I've realized even more with this series), it's a real downer. No one survives. No one gets better.
But that's why it's even more important that people support this cause. We can only go up from here in terms of coming up with real solutions and supports for people with Alzheimer's, their families, and caregivers. Luckily, more and more celebrities are coming out in support of the Alzheimer's Association, sharing their personal stories, and even revealing their own diagnosis.

Wait a minute- isn't this usually a travel blog? You're right, but for the next three weeks I'm dedicating my little internet real estate to this cause that is near and dear to my heart. I hope it encourages people to share information, stories, and support. Be sure to subscribe to the blog so you don't miss a post and you can also follow on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
