I've spent the past two weekends around Chicago and it's been nice to stay close to my home base between travels. While the far north side may not be that exotic, I've learned that there's never a shortage of interesting things to find. Today was the last outdoor Glenwood Sunday Market, a favorite Sunday morning activity for me. If I can, I like to walk the 1.5 miles there from my apartment, most of it along the Metra tracks running down Ravenswood Avenue.
It's been on these walks that I've gradually discovered the incredible Rogers Park Metra Murals that grace many of the viaducts in the neighborhood. It's the kind of thing that makes me smile when I stumble upon them and remind me that sometimes you don't have to go too far from home to find something unexpected that makes your heart happy.
Enjoy the gallery of some of my favorite murals. Just one of the few things that makes Rogers Park a unique part of Chicago.
