We've been oh so busy today and have even more things to come this evening. Am I the only one that has many days where I have zero plans and then everything happens at once? I'm not complaining though. I'll take anything to break up these frozen winter days.
A couple of new things today, but I'm going to focus on the most important one:
The event: Lilia's 2nd grade play
The theme: Bebop with Aesop
There is nothing better than watching kids get up on stage, reciting their memorized lines, honing their acting skills and singing songs all while in costume. I'm talking frogs, a sheep and a wolf amongst other things.
Lilia was dressed as an ant, looking spectacular in her black costume and antennae. She even had a speaking part! Okay all of the kids did, but still! She rocked her part, but let's be honest, I would be just as proud if she'd completely forgotten her lines and ran off the stage.
I told her yesterday that I was going to sit in the front row, jump up and yell, "Woo-hoo, that's my daughter! She's number one!" I also said I would then run back and forth in front of the stage doing jazz hands while singing along to the songs. Her laughing response was, "Yeah, right!" A pause. "Mommy, you're not really going to do that, are you?"
I feel it's my job as a parent to keep her on her toes. You never know when your mom is going to show up cheering. Be prepared.
Alas, I figured that might take away from the other kids so I sat politely and clapped at all of the acceptable times. Overall, it was the highlight of the month. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some singing and jazz hands to perfect.
