Why rain at Lollapalooza shouldn't hold you back

Why rain at Lollapalooza shouldn't hold you back

Today's forecast in Chicago calls for scattered thunderstorms. We're headed to Lollapalooza this weekend (sans kids) and some measly rain isn't going to hold us back.

I've come a long way since I saw New Kids on the Block at Rosemont Horizon in 1990, yet I've never been to Chicago's most celebrated yearly music festival, Lollapalooza.

Thunderstorms were abound last night and it was still raining well into this morning. I've heard that parts of Grant Park are already a mud pit. Still, no worries here. There is good music and food to be had.

Besides, who can think about rain when you're hungry? The food at Lollapalooza is supposed to be spectacular.

A grilled cheese stuffed pretzel from Goose Island Brewpub? I'll weather the storm for that alone. For more on food, check out blogger Show Me Chicago's post about the top 10 interesting eats at the festival this year. So many food decisions, so little time.

The show will go on rain or shine. Unless of course, the storm gets so crazy we have to take cover, but after that, the show will go on! There are so many great bands and musicians today alone. Some of my picks are Crystal Castles, New Order and The Killers. Who is going to notice a little mud when you're listening to great music with the Chicago skyline as your backdrop?

Another bonus, when you expect possible torrential downpours, you needn't worry about your outfit for the day. You might as well plan on wearing old shoes, a poncho or maybe even a plastic bag.

Also, that hairstyle that you're worried about looking so stylish? Forget it! You're probably going to get rained on and you just might possibly fall into a mud pit. Consider your hair and fashion dilemmas solved.

I've got my bracelet on, I'm packing my garbage bag outfit and I'm ready for the adventure.
