well i wish that i knew what i know now, when i was younger

Can I write a blog post in 10 minutes?
maybe.
This is part of Blogapalooz-Hour on Chicago Now, and I tuned in late because I’m taking an online class and I’m also tuned in late on that… don’t get me started… but I thought I’d give it a try. The topic tonight is :

“Write about something you know now that you wish you knew then”

Years ago my love sang a lyric to me, in the charming, raspy, high-pitched way he has of singing random brilliant lyrics plucked from songs I’ve never heard. “Well I wish that I knew what I know now, when I was younger”. He said it was a song he wanted played at his funeral.

Ironic, right? Presumably, the learning will have stopped, at least for him. But it’s a reminder to get on with it. Live without regrets.

‘cause the lyric implies there might have been something you’d have done differently “if I’d only known…”

But living without regret. That’s the thing. Try and keep things clean. Intentional. Act to clean up mistakes. Heal pain when possible, clear up misunderstandings when you can, all that and more.

Celebrate life and the fact that it’s all a journey of learning as we go.

This post is not getting written in 10 minutes. The idea of Blogapalooz-Hour is that the topic comes in at 9 and you post by 10pm. I tuned in tonight at 9:50. Thought it was worth the try. I’m posting by 11.

No regrets.
