Why did Bill Daley drop out of the race is the wrong question. Why did he enter the race in the first place, is the question. He has had an illustrious career. He has been a behind the scenes political player from fundraising to advisor. He has served two stints in the White House. He was the Secretary of Commerce in President Clinton's administration and Chief of Staff in President Obama's administration. He has been head of banking.
As he left the campaign trail, he said he cold not see the next 5 years of his life in electoral politics. He is a straight shooter. I can see Governor Daley in the State House governing and solving State problems. He brings great experieince to the table.
However, I do not see him on the campaign trail, kissing babies, shaking hands and the like. Why would anyone in their right mind want to be governor of a broke state, where governors tend to go to jail.
Me thinks Bill Daley is too much of a gentleman for the position.
