Father Michael Pfleger has been a star in the Catholic Church in Chicago and they don't realize it or appreciate it. Cardinal Francis George has suspended Father because he refused a new post at Leo High School.
Father Mike has built a church based on activism. He follows Jesus in the name of his challenge and advocacy and not just ceremony. He has build a church of worship and stood up for social justice in many forms. The community, is better off because of Rev. Mike. He has been political, aggressive and outspoken. He has followed the leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
He is a threat and an upset to the usually quiet institution of priesthood. The Cardinal retires at the end of this year and is determined to dismiss Father Pfleger before he goes. Father is between a rock and a hard place. To go or not to go. On a national radio program, he said he would leave the Catholic Church as opposed to being dismissed.
Enough of the suspensions from those who dislike him. I hope Father starts a new church where he can be free to fully express himself as a man of God. Father is one of one.
Will he stay or will he leave? What do you think?
