Sex at Northwestern

Sex at Northwestern

Has the world gone mad?  Northwestern University Sex professor, J. Michael Bailey, taught a class on Human Sexuality.  By now you have read this on the front page or heard it on the news.   He invited guest lecturers, Melvoin-Berg  and his girl friend from the Kinky People and Weird Chicago.  They provided a live sex demonstration for the students.  The demonstration was a woman having an organism with a sex toy.  This is the new academic freedom at $52,000 per year  for tutition.

The President of Northwestern issued a mild statement and has called for an investigation.  I am wondering  if the popular professor resigns or is he fired or is this ignored as the new classroom "demonstration."

Did the professor cross the line?

  • No. Reasons in no particular order of importance.

    1. NW is a private university.
    2. All those involved were adults.
    3. Attendance was voluntary.
    4. Those who became uncomfortable could leave.

Do these factors make it right? Did the professor cross the line?

    1. Yes, funded by people who can cut off that funding if they don't agree with what Northwestern is doing...
    2. Yes, but most of these adults are there on their parents dime. And do the parents want to fork over 50K a year for THIS? Some 'strumpet' vibrating herself in public, going 'OHHHHHHHH'?

Northwestern hasn't gone mad, they've just taken a page out of the San Francisco values playbook. And now they're apologizing like mad because they don't want to get hit in the pocketbook.

1.They are free to donate elsewhere let the market decide. With a 5 billion endowment, they can weather a minor controversy that a month from now, no one will remember.
2.Then they are free to withdraw their kids from the university. I'm sure a university like Northwestern can find plenty of new students eager to take their place.
