Events to celebrate mothers in Chicago: run, walk, love

Mother's day is always special for we recognize the "mothers" birth and adopted that have helped shape us into strong women and men.  Celebrating the day for many will come in the form or a brunch, flowers or a special present.  For those of you wishing to make a difference in the lives of women and celebrate motherhood, check out these two great events both taking place on May 13th, 2012 - Mother's Day.  I will be taking part in both as a way to show my support for such endearing and exciting events.

Y Me Race

This event takes place in Chicago on May 13th in Grant Park in Chicago.  The top fund raisers include: Jody Fyfe, Marty Zimmerman, Harriet Seitler, Stephanie Yeager, and John Kravitz.   Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization is the only place in the world where someone touched by breast cancer can call ? 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year - to talk to a breast cancer survivor and be understood in 150 different languages.  For more than 30 years, Y-ME has been working to assure that no one faces breast cancer alone.  We started the Y-ME Hotline at a time when people didn't talk about cancer, newspapers didn't print the words "breast" or "cancer," and doctors didn't always tell their patients their diagnosis, much less discuss treatment options.  1-800-221-2141

Y-ME focuses its resources on providing peer support to patients, families and friends dealing with breast cancer today. All money raised goes to support the 24/7 Hotline and the complex IP phone system all peer counselors use.
