The Premier Bike Chicago 2012 Event
CHICAGO – The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events announce that Chicago’s Bike to Work Week will take place June 11-15, 2012 as part of Bike Chicago 2012. Presented by the City of Chicago and Goose Island Beer Company, various events will promote cycling ranging from a planned bike tour in the Loop to a public information session with the Chicago Department of Transportation concerning their plans to makeChicago a world class bicycling city. Details will be released at a later date.
The week’s festivities will culminate on Friday, June 15 at 7:30 am with the Bike to Work Rally on Daley Plaza(Washington and Dearborn Streets). All cyclists will receive a FREE T-shirt and breakfast, as well as the complimentary Sierra Mist Bike Valet.
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and Goose Island Beer Company will be soliciting input from the public on the 2012 Bike Chicago t-shirt design. Beginning, April 2 and ending April 26, three designs will be posted on Facebook (Bike Chicago) and on-line at www.bikechicago.us with a link allowing fans to vote on their favorite. The winning design will be announced on April 26.
Bike Chicago 2012 promotes Chicago’s bicycling culture and serves as a facet of the City’s commitment to cultivating Chicago as a world leader in providing convenient and easy-to-use transit options for all Chicagoans. Other events held during Bike Chicago include neighborhood, lakefront and architectural bike tours, cycling classes, bike maintenance workshops and much more. Other premier biking events include “Bike the Drive”(May 27); LATE Ride (June 30-July 1) and the Four Star Bike Tour (August 26).
