Four secrets for staying pain free

Do you wake up in the morning and feel a bit like the "Tin Man" or just rolling out of bed until your body catches up?  Do you have chronic pain in your body, neck, back, knees, hips or hands and belive you have to live this way?

No this isn't an advertisement for another pill or surgery; this is real life happening and understanding that you can take control of the pain and discomfort without a shot or doctor.  YOU can manage your health first and then if all else fails, then see your surgeon. 

I'm not saying that you shouldn't go to a doctor to rule out serious conditions, just that pain with aging isn't a life sentence and a little activity, good foods and supplements can go a long way against the morning or daily pain you might be feeling.  Here are three things you can start doing today to get yourself moving freely and easily every day of the week.

1. EAT like a baby! - Take control and increase fruit and vegetable intake. We always worry about getting those veggies in for our children but somehow forget about taking care of ourselves.

 Limit potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplant considered in the "Nightshade family of plants" which are believed to increase inflammation.

Increase berries including strawberries, blueberries and raspberries are not only low in calories, high in fiber are packed with anti-inflammatory phytochemicals and anti-oxidants.  The pigments in brightly colored fruits, vegetables are highest in phytochemicals.  Apples and red onions contain quercetin which also fights inflammation. 

2. Don't be a teenager - Limit junk foods like french fries and fried dough which can increase inflammation as well as foods high in sugar and high fat meats.  Many of these foods contain fatty acids called arachidonic acids,which contribute to increased joint inflammation.

3. It's okay to wine - Although red wine contains many phytochemicals and polyphenols, the best 4oz of liquid you can drink is water.  Being that your muscles are 72% water, when your muscles are dehydrated they are likely to cause joint discomfort. 

Heart health may be improved by that glass of cabarnet, remember that water should be your first choice of fluid.  Drink often and until your urine is clear on a daily basis.1.
