Golden Globes Party Food

I am an awards show junkie, and every year I debate whether we should have people over to watch the Globes and the Oscars. This year my mom is out of town, so my sister and her family are coming over to watch the Globes on Sunday. Whenever this materializes, though, I always end up in an on-line wild goose chase trying to pin down the perfect menu, with some nods here and there to the "gold" theme and/or sort of a special family movie night vibe.

I always, ALWAYS come up empty. (If you have a go-to site you use for this kind of thing, PLEASE help a girl out and share the link below so that I can use it next year!) Necessity is the mother of invention, so here is MY plan for Golden Globes–watching on Sunday, just in case you're interested in planning a little soiree as well.

Cocktails: Last year's official Golden Globe cocktail, the Moet Golden Night cocktail

Appetizers: Giada De Laurentiis is very Hollywood to me (she has it in her blood), so I'm making her roasted pepper crostini, with only yellow peppers (we'll also have some specialty cheeses and salumi on the side, and crackers for the kids)

Main course: Meyer lemon mayonnaise roast chicken with Yukon gold potatoes and sweet onions

Side dish: Parmesan squash rounds; pineapple-banana-mango fruit salad for the kids

Dessert: Delicious store-bought macaroons, black-and-white cookies and a selection of gold-wrapped chocolates (not keeping the leftovers!)

If I have time, I'm going to head out in search of some cute gold pillows for the couch (they should actually look pretty cohesive in my living room long after awards season is over) and maybe some sparkly champagne saucers or this gold serving tray. I always want to entertain like this, and I never do. Now's the time!

Here is the link to this year's list of nominees. I haven't seen many of the movies yet (most of them are still in the theaters, as always), but I am a HUGE Downton Abbey fan, and I didn't miss a single minute of How To Get Away With Murder. Plus, it's always fun to be snarky and judgy as everyone arrives on the red carpet. I can't wait :)
