Music Mom, courtesy of StubHub!, is pleased to announce that we have a pair of tickets to give away for Usher's concert at the Allstate Arena this Friday!

The tickets will be awarded through a contest, described below.

Could it be that Usher will be our next King of Pop?  He seems to think it's possible.  Regarding his current concert tour, Usher had this quote in The Daily Star:

"You know, we lost Michael Jackson. A lot of pressure is on me and I don't mind taking it.  I wanted to make sure that you get that type of experience that leaves you saying, 'OMG'. The impression that I would like to leave is that this guy is really stepping it up to a level where people can hopefully compare me to people like Michael Jackson."

Why do you think Usher might be the one to replace Michael Jackson?  Post your answer below and you could win tickets to Usher's Friday concert.

The deadline for submissions is 10 PM Wednesday (12/1/10) to provide the winner with enough time to make arrangements.

These tickets were courtesy of StubHub!

  • Usher is alive and performing. Yes, Michael Jackson was King of Pop, but it is WAS. Usher has an amazing voice, and is able to travel around the world doing just that. Oh, please pick me!!!

  • Usher is extremely talented and has a great voice. Just like Michael,he is a terrific dancer, and will leave the audience thinking WOW what a show. He was influenced by the great Michael Jackson who was the King of Pop. I think Usher is striving to be as great as Michael and is determined to succeed. He does have some big shoes to fill, but with his talent and stage presence he is likely to become as great of a performer as Michael Jackson. Please pick me, It is suppose to be an outrageous concert, and I am dying to scream OMG!!!!!!

  • Usher has the je ne se quois, that indefinable "x-factor" that Michael Jackson personified and that I have not seen in a performer since. Usher IS the definition of contemporary R and B. Whether he is collaborating or going solo, his projects always stand out in a sea of copycats and recording industry bottom lines. In addition he has an eye for the next generation of pop, a true King always thinks about the next Prince. Let us not forget that Usher was the one who essentially discovered and promoted Justin Bieber to his now incredible stardom. USHER FOREVER!!! LONG LIVE THE KINGS!!

  • Usher is one of the few performers out there who you can tell is actually working hard. He is a singing and dancing dynamo, and when he puts together a performance it is a theatrical experience. There are so many pop or R&B performers that rely on writhing half-naked girls to make a performance sexy or provocative, but Usher uses music and dance to engage and titilate the audience. He's consistently evolved since his days as a teenage singer, and I don't expect him to stop any time soon!

  • Usher

  • I have been a huge fan of both Michael Jackson and Usher for as long as I can remember. No one will EVER replace Michael Jackson, and even Usher knows that. In last month's issue of VIBE, he's quoted as saying: "Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer that ever lived. I just want to be the greatest entertainer living. And I'ma work my hardest to be recognized that way." Through his music, choreography, and charitable efforts, I truly believe that Usher is on his way to becoming "the greatest entertainer living". Although some people consider Usher to be overconfident and cocky, I beg to differ. I met Usher in Chicago when I was 14, and he was very sweet, charismatic, and genuine. Usher understands that Michael's success did not come quickly, but through hard work, sacrifice, persistance, and effort he was able to reach the epitome of stardom. He is truly dedicated to his craft just as Michael was.

  • Usher is the epitomy of a true artist/entertainer. I have only had the priviledge of seeing him on tv but he personifies this aura about himself that is strickingly reminiscent of a young Michael Jackson. The dance moves, the voice, the style, all things MJ was known fo, what made him the king. Usher has proven he is a viable artist like Michael and he will be around. His music doesn't go along with the trend but starts its own trend....like Michael. Amazing artists, Michael and Usher.

  • Although I would LOVE to see Usher in concert, and I am a HUGE fan, with the utmost honesty, there can and will only be ONE MJ, and he is gone. Usher should not want to follow in someone else's footsteps, he is USHER, and can stand on his own two feet and should be proud of that.

  • My son and his buddies listen to Usher all the time and watch music videos and try their best to move like Usher. When I was young, me and my sister did the same thing but to Michael Jackson. Usher appeals to everyone espically kids and that's excatly what Michael did. Usher is amazing and if he keeps it up he will definitley be a lifetime legend like Michael always will.

  • Usher is a one amazing, extremely talented artist. Michael Jackson has inspired Usher to be "the best" in what he does. I don't think that Usher wants to compete with Michael's music, but as he said he would like to be compared to people like Michael. I have personally compared him to Michael, and always enjoyed his music to this day. Usher has made a name for himself, and in 20 years from now people will still listen to his songs. I believe that Usher will have a spectacular performance/concert (i would love to see & give my support) that will leave many people breathless.

  • It is said that the best form of flattery is imitation, and Usher is doing a great job of both paying homage to the greatness that was Michael Jackson, as well as being an individual. Usher is a veteran in the music industry and progressing in both his personal and professional life. It shows Usher's character and passion for his art to be in a place where being considered an "equal" to Michael Jackson places pressure on him to reach beyond and be greater! One day, I will be able to witness this in person, hopefully, that one day is soon!

  • Michale Jackson can never be replace, but Usher could efinitely be the one to earn the name of next "King of Pop". Usher has passion and that's what is most important. He strives to be the best and works hard and even as a father, he finds time to work on his career and be the best he can be. He doesn't mind collaborating with other artists and he is very HUMBLE. He takes his talent as a blessing and uses it to heal souls all over the world.

  • Michael Jackson was an artist of extreme talent, dedication and love for his music and his fans! Usher Raymond is a entertainer with some of the same attributes. For Usher to compare himself to Michael Jackson says a lot. Most entertainers don't seem to have a true love for their craft and simply want to make money. Usher comment shows his true love for his craft and his complete respect for the King of Pop! When carefully looking back at Michael Jacksons music, he made songs that would appeal to a diverse audience! Songs that made you cry, happy or just feeling like their was hope at the end of the tunnel! I believe Usher is following this same legacy! He is making music to appeal to all ages and across cultures! His dance moves are amazing and his stage appeal is to die for! At the end of the day I don't believe he could replace the King Of Pop, but what he is doing and can do is to give us a little piece of what a lot of us are missing so much. Let me give you a hint....The way you make me feel!! Okay Usher you have spot light, the lights are low and you are at center stage! My husband actually looks exactly like Usher and we are both fans so this would be an amazing experience for us both!!

  • I am a music loving mom, Usher will never replace Micheal Jackson but he could make that his goal to being the next best thing as possible, he has the talent and style to reach people of all ages and make songs that you can't forget, that if you hear you want to sing along or get up and dance. Putting on a good show is just part of it, now putting good words to great music thats whats going to count. I would love to see him in concert to see for myself.

  • usher can be the next king of pop because he is very talented and he is OMG! the next king of pop.

  • I grew up watching Michael Jackson, perfecting my moon walk in front of my bedroom mirror, and singing Thriller into my hairbrush. As a performer he was immensely talented, alluring and always on the cutting edge, a pioneer who paved the way for so many artists including Usher. Usher is all of these things as well; talented, alluring and a pioneer who grew up watching Michael just like I did. Millions of people practice Usher

  • There will only be 1 Michael Jackson and he has left his legacy on the world. Michael's legacy has influenced and pushed artists like Usher to become an Artist and not just a singer. With that said, I feel it is fair to say that Usher has replaced Jackson as the pop icon of the new generation. Usher is undoubtedly one of the greatest performers of all time. Not only is he an excellent singer, but an outstanding dancer, writer, acter and producer. Usher has perfected his craft as a well-rounded artist. He has consistently given the world hit and after hit since the 90's. The world has watched him mature and develop as an artist and it seems to only get better with time. Usher has the same world appeal and x-factor that fans admired with Michael Jackson. Usher has won 5 grammys, 6 american music awards, 4 world music awards and 19 billboard music awards...just to name a few! Fans appreciate Usher because it is obvious of the hard work and time that is put into anything that he does. Hopefully, I will be able to see the magic this Friday!

  • In reply to sschroeder7:

    Very clever!

  • Usher is an amazing talent. He's always been consistent in his delivery and his dancing has always made his competition work harder. Like Michael Jackson, he's able to connect with his audience through his voice and love for music. I love that he acknowledges who has paved the way for him to be successful and that he strives to be the entertainer that Michael Jackson was. With time I think he will be able to make a legacy for himself and bring us the same joy that we had with MJ and his music.

  • Out of all of the acts that are inspired by and try to emulate Michael Jackson, Usher is by far the most fitting to be a "replacement" of sorts. Like Michael was, Usher is genuinely passionate about his art and is willing to put in the work to succeed. He is multi-talented, and beyond having a beautiful voice, is an extraordinary dancer, songwriter and performer. Usher has grown since his humble beginnings on Star Search, and continues to develop and better his craft. His hard-working nature and authentic talent remind me of MJ in a very strong way.

  • Usher has an amazing talent. His singing and dancing were inspired by the late Michael Jackson who is the Kind of Pop. And although Usher is a multi-talented artist with singing, dancing, and song writing I honestly do not believe anyone can compare or take Micheal Jackson's place as the King of Pop.

  • What Usher has similar to Michael Jackson is that perfect fusion of dancing, singing, and performance that reaches across races and age groups. Usher has that indescribable mix of passion and skill in his singing and the dance moves to match. Keep the Faith, Jackson

  • With hits like "Yeah" and "OMG" you can bet the rides to school in the morning with my 7 year old daughter wake me up more than a Venti coffee from starbucks. He is a hit maker just like the great MJ was. I saw MJ perfom years ago and had a blast. I passed the torch to my daughter and we still see her dancing around the house to "smooth criminal" and "remember the time". The same torch has been passed on from MJ to Usher and he (Usher) is carrying it well. Usher is so loved by my daughter and is embraced dearly by the rest of the dancing "old folk" as my daughter calls us when we have his jams blasting and boucing of the walls in out home.

  • Has a winner been chosen? Please let all of us know who the lucky one is!

Yes, congrats to Jen de la Rosa for the following winning entry:
